BGR Energy secures 600 MW EPC Contract from Tamil Nadu Electricity Board

BGR Energy Systems Ltd ("BGR Energy"), Chennai has bagged the EPC contract for the 1 x 600 MW from Tamil Nadu Electricity Board. This project is an expansion of the existing 4 x 210 MW Thermal power project of TNEB at Mettur. The total contract value of the project is Rs 3100.06 Crores.
The scope of work consists of Design, Engineering, Supply of Boiler, Steam Turbine Generator and complete Balance of Plant equipments inclusive of all mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & control systems and civil, structural and architectural works, necessary for putting into commercial operation on Engineering, Procurement arid Construction (EPC) basis.
Earlier, TNEB had pre-qualified the bidders for the project through an International Competitive Bidding. The only other bidder was BHEL. It may be noted that with this order the Company has successfully forayed into EPC contract segment for large projects of 500 MW and above with the likes of BHEL and Reliance Infrastructure.
The 600 MW sub critical power plant is to be completed in a period of 39 months. This project will have 400 & 220 kV Gas Insulated Substation and also includes river water intake pump house and a pipe bridge across River Cauvery.
The Company's order book has now doubled and stands over Rs 6000 Crores which include four BoP contracts of 500 MW and one EPC contract of 600 MW and contracts of Oil & Gas Equipment sector projects.
The Stock closed the day at Rs.212.95, down by Rs.8.95 or 4.03%. The stock hit an intraday high of Rs.238.50 and low of Rs.210.
The total traded quantity was 191087 compared to 2 week average of 73637.
